A registered nurse by profession, Stephen’s current role is Patient & Clinical Services Director with a private healthcare company who provide hospital and community colorectal and stoma care specialist nurses throughout the NHS in England. This role has afforded the opportunity to be involved in the tendering process to supply nursing services in collaboration with the NHS and private providers.
Stephen has previously worked in the NHS for 30 years, in a variety of roles including Senior Matron at the Royal Free London and as Lead Specialist Practitioner at St. Mark’s Hospital, Harrow. Both these posts afforded Stephen the opportunity to utilise his clinical, management and leadership skills.
Stephen has a wealth of experience in delivering excellent patient care particularly for complex colorectal and stoma patients within hospital and community settings.
During his career, Stephen has worked with stakeholders to innovate and enhance patient services, by setting up a ward-based rapid access clinic for colorectal surgical patients to streamline their post-operative management. Stephen has also reviewed services and implemented successful cost-effective changes which have measurably improved patient care and satisfaction.
Stephen has a passion for the professional development of colleagues, he is also keen to utilise his experience of quality improvement projects to enhance patient care.
