Multidisciplinary Expertise. One Coordinated Care Pathway.
GIPPO is a multidisciplinary clinical care model that brings together specialists in gastrointestinal, intestinal, pelvic and peritoneal oncology care, supported by dedicated oncology nutrition and psychological care.
The GIPPO model is built on one fundamental principle: complex conditions benefit from collaborative expertise.
Instead of managing a complex case through a single-specialty approach, GIPPO brings the relevant experts together to review the patient's condition, discuss available treatment options and develop a coordinated, individualized care plan.
What Does GIPPO Stand For?
G — Gastroenterology
Specialized expertise in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal disorders and conditions affecting the digestive system.
I — Intestinal Care
Focused expertise in complex intestinal and colorectal conditions, including cases requiring specialized evaluation and treatment.
P — Pelvic Health
Expertise in conditions involving the pelvis, including pelvic structural, functional and related disorders.
P — Peritoneal Oncology
Specialized expertise in cancers and complex oncological conditions involving the peritoneum and abdominal cavity.
O — Oncology
Oncological expertise that helps integrate cancer diagnosis, treatment planning and overall disease management.
Oncology Dietitian
Provides individualized nutritional assessment and support throughout the patient's treatment journey.
Oncology Psychologist
Provides psychological and emotional support to patients and families navigating the challenges associated with complex illness and cancer care.
Why GIPPO?
Complex gastrointestinal and oncological conditions can involve multiple organs, systems and areas of expertise.
In such situations, patients may need to consult several specialists individually, sometimes resulting in fragmented opinions and treatment pathways.
GIPPO brings the relevant expertise together.
The GIPPO approach focuses on:
• Multidisciplinary expertise
• Collaborative case discussion
• Comprehensive review of investigations
• Individualized treatment planning
• Integrated nutritional support
• Psychological support
• Coordinated clinical decision-making
• Continuity of care and follow-up
The objective is to ensure that the patient's condition is considered from multiple relevant clinical perspectives before a coordinated treatment plan is recommended.
Who Should Seek a GIPPO Consultation?
GIPPO may be considered for patients with complex, recurrent, difficult-to-diagnose or multidisciplinary gastrointestinal, intestinal, pelvic or oncological conditions.
A GIPPO consultation may be particularly relevant for patients with:
• Complex gastrointestinal disorders
• Intestinal or colorectal conditions requiring multiple specialties
• Pelvic disorders with overlapping gastrointestinal or colorectal concerns
• Peritoneal malignancies or complex abdominal cancers
• Gastrointestinal cancers
• Colorectal cancers
• Recurrent or advanced abdominal malignancies
• Cases requiring evaluation by multiple specialists
• Patients seeking a multidisciplinary review of their treatment plan
• Patients with complex treatment histories
• Patients requiring coordinated nutritional and psychological support
• Cases where multiple treatment approaches need to be discussed collectively
GIPPO is designed to bring the right expertise together according to the individual patient's clinical needs.
Our MDT Protocol
A Structured Multidisciplinary Approach to Patient Care
Step 1 — Patient Registration & Clinical Assessment
The patient's symptoms, medical history, previous treatments and current concerns are documented.
Step 2 — Collection of Clinical Information
Relevant investigations such as blood investigations, imaging, endoscopy reports, histopathology, previous treatment records, surgical reports and oncology records are reviewed as appropriate.
Step 3 — Specialist Review
The case is directed to the relevant GIPPO specialists based on the patient's condition.
Step 4 — MDT Case Discussion
The relevant specialists come together to discuss the case. Each specialist contributes their expertise and clinical perspective.
Step 5 — Treatment Planning
